Public Notice: School Nutrition Program in Administrative Review for 2023-24 School Year
January 26, 2024 - Livermore, CA- An Administrative Review (AR) is a required evaluation of all school food authorities (SFA) participating in the National School Lunch Program and/or School Breakfast Program over a three-year cycle. SFAs are required to inform the public in the year of their AR. As such, this communication serves as a public notice of the Administrative Review of the SFA for the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District (LVJUSD) for the 2023-24 school year. The review process consists of four phases: prereview, on-site review, off-site review, and post-review. The Administrative Review Process from the School Food Authority Perspective (DOC) flowchart provides a high-level overview of the procedures associated with each of the phases.
The AR evaluates the SFA’s compliance with the Federal and State program requirements for Child Nutrition Programs (CNP). The review is conducted by the California Department of Education’s Nutrition Services Division and is mandated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) with the following objectives:
-
Determine if the SFA is meeting all federal and state school nutrition program requirements
-
Provide focused technical assistance to assist the SFA with correcting any findings
-
Secure necessary corrective action documentation demonstrating the SFA’s permanent corrections
-
Assess fiscal action and, when applicable, recover improperly paid funds
An expected completion date of the review for LVJUSD is April 2024. For further information, please contact Katie Crouse, Director of Child Nutrition, at kcrouse@lvjusd.org or (925) 960-2901.
