Livermore Valley Craft Beer Foundation Donates Bikes to LVJUSD Students This Holiday Season
December 21, 2020 - Livermore, CA - It was pedal to the metal as volunteers from the Livermore Valley Craft Beer Foundation (LVCBF) and Kids Bike Lane worked tirelessly on December 12, 2020 to put together bicycles that were donated to deserving students in the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District (LVJUSD) earlier this month.
Held virtually on October 17, 2020, the Second Annual LVCBF Bikes n’ Brews Fundraiser raised thousands of dollars that were used to purchase new bicycles for local kids in need. LVCBF and TAG Real Estate Team joined forces once again and partnered with Trek Bicycle Livermore, Tri-Valley Beer Trail, Rivers End Brewing Company, Homegrown Hops Brewing and Pennyweight Craft Brewing to raise funds through the sale of tickets that included a 10-mile bike ride and entry into a raffle for prizes from local Livermore businesses. The silent auction and raffle fundraisers were held online. “It was a fantastic event from start to finish,” said Jesse Barto, Technical Director of LVCBF.
Because of COVID restrictions, LVCBF volunteers were not able to witness the huge smiles on the faces of 48 lucky LVJUSD middle school students who were recipients of bikes this year. Christensen Middle School Principal Pat Avilla distributed bikes to students this week, one at a time. “The new bicycles for our students are beyond anything they could have wished for! The students were so delighted to receive a new bike. For some of our students, this will give them the exercise and mobility they need,” said Avilla.
For the second year in a row, the Livermore Valley Craft Beer Foundation has made a difference for LVJUSD students. Joe Michell K-8 Principal Laura Lembo said, “Their inspiring generosity is the definition of the spirit of Christmas. A simple act of kindness that warms the heart, brings a smile and sometimes a tear. They have done that for our families and made sure that this holiday will be much brighter.”
