GHS Celebrates New Facility with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

April 1, 2021- Livermore, CA- Granada High School Principal Matthew Hart proudly welcomed students, school and District staff, the LVJUSD Board of Education, and Alameda County Supervisor David Haubert to celebrate the newly completed GHS Athletic & Aquatic Renovation project on Wednesday, March 31. Gathering in the shade of the heritage oak tree, surrounded by a new mat (wrestling) room, dance studio, and weight room, and looking toward the sand volleyball courts adjacent to the aquatics center, guests participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony and then toured the new facilities.

Made possible by the support of the Livermore community of the Measure J Facilities Bond, the renovation includes state-of-the-art facilities. Board President Craig Bueno said, “The GHS athletic program, which has developed many top-notch athletes over the years, now has facilities that will truly prepare their athletes for the next level in their athletic careers.”

Longtime GHS wrestling coach and Athletic Director, California Wrestling Hall of Fame inductee, and current Vice Principal Clark Conover received recognition for his commitment to the GHS athletic program and his ongoing dedication to guiding student athletes during a surprise dedication of the mat room.

The March 31 ribbon cutting ceremony marked the official introduction of the new facility to the community. The facility was completed late fall 2020, with a ribbon cutting ceremony originally planned for December and postponed due to COVID restrictions.
