Community Update 12/4/20

12/4/2020

Dear Del Valle families,

We are off and running in Trimester 2.  Thank you for all your patience as we navigate transfers and new courses for returning students in our new Schoology system. We are here to help, so if you have any questions please don't hesitate to call us.

Del Valle will remain in distance learning until we receive guidance from our District and county.  We will be updating you if there are any changes.  We currently do not have any dates planned for a hybrid or a full re-opening.  Del Valle is slowly opening Learning Cohorts to students based on their needs.  If you would like to know more about our cohorts please contact us and we will be happy to create a plan for your child.  We will also be reaching out to students who would benefit from coming to school and getting support.

Distance Learning
This is a reminder, to receive positive attendance students must turn on their screens during instruction, participate in class discussions, and complete classwork.  If students are experiencing difficulties logging in and participating they will need to call the office.  If students do not communicate with the office they will not receive positive attendance for their class.

Message from our Counselor
Ms. Petersdorf is available to meet virtually with students to discuss their academic process as well as their mental health.  Seniors, it is required you meet with Ms. Petersdorf.  To set up an appointment please email Ms. Petersdorf at apetersdorf@lvjusd.org

Help Support our School
You are a vital part of our school and we need your help!   Our school has several opportunities for parents and students to participate in and your support is vital to the success of our school.  Many of the meetings are virtual and only meet several times during the year.  We know you are extremely busy but we appreciate your contribution.

MCS Model Continuation School
Del Valle applies for recognition from the State of California Department of Education.  During this process, auditors talk with parents about our school and their experiences with our staff.  Dates and times will be announced.

Parent workshops
We are excited to announce that this year we will partner with Horizons Family Counseling on two virtual parent workshops.  The topics will be on Self Care January 26th from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm and Social Justice on March 16th from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

Lunches
If you haven’t done so already please complete the child nutrition application.  Even though students are not here to receive meals, meals are still available at various school sites.

Bus Pass
The student transportation program through Alameda County will continue this year.  Here is the link to apply.

Have a great weekend and we look forward to hearing from you soon.
