The Wellness Center
Our Wellness Center is opening up. Our Wellness Center is designed to help students cope with stress, anxiety, frustration, and other difficult emotions, with a minimal loss of instructional time. When a student is feeling overwhelmed, they can get a pass to go to the Wellness Center. They then have ten minutes to center themselves, to engage in stress reduction activities, and to learn about coping techniques to use in the future, before returning to class. The Wellness Center is not meant for serious social or emotional crises, which are instead referred to our school counselor, school psychologists, or administrators.
We monitor student usage closely and follow up with those who seem to be using the Wellness Center too frequently or in a manner that seems designed to avoid class.
