2020/2021 CMS Schedule Revision

Christensen Middle School students and families,

Clarification Regarding Upcoming Distance Learning Schedule Modifications at Middle School Level

-Teachers and parents have indicated that additional teacher/student time would be beneficial.
-Additional instructional time should help reduce the amount of independent work/homework students are expected to do.
-We wish to reassert the value and importance of student participation in support periods, which remain available to students on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Schedule Modifications:

Support Periods - We will continue with our daily support periods, which teachers may now require students to attend if/as needed. Support periods will be mandatory for students who are assigned to participate to ensure targeted support for those who need additional assistance. Note: Support periods will not be mandatory for all students.

Wednesday Synchronous Instruction - Going forward, students will attend mandatory instructional periods on Wednesdays, as per the schedule below. We will employ an alternating weekly A/B schedule, with students attending Periods 0, 1, 3, 5 on a designated “A” Wednesday and Periods 2, 4, and 6 on a designated “B” Wednesday. Periods will be 45 minutes long with ten minutes in between to help reduce screen fatigue. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday schedules will remain the same.
