March 16, 2020
Dear Livermore Families,
We are following the direction of Bay Area County Health Departments and will be part of the multiple-county shelter in place - including Alameda County - effective tonight at midnight, and through at least April 7.
In many ways, we are prepared for this shelter in place, as we had already planned for our schools to be dismissed during this time. We still plan to reopen our schools on Tuesday, April 14. We will hope that our combined efforts will have a positive impact on containing the coronavirus, COVID-19.
Providing food to children is considered an essential function, therefore, as previously shared, we will continue to serve meals to children, age 18 and under, Monday - Friday from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. Two meals, a breakfast and a lunch, will be available for pick-up at the front of the following schools:
- East Avenue Middle School (3951 East Avenue)
- Junction Avenue K-8 School (298 Junction Avenue)
- Marylin Avenue Elementary School (800 Marylin Avenue)
The distribution of Chromebooks to those who need them, to allow students to participate in online learning opportunities will still take place. If you have not already done so, please sign up on this form so that we have a Chromebook ready for your student: Chromebook Loan Request/Solicitud de préstamo de Chromebook. We will contact parents/guardians of students who sign up with the details to check out Chromebooks. Please sign up by tomorrow, Tuesday, March 17, at 7:00 p.m.
Our staff will continue to develop learning opportunities that will be shared later this week. In the meantime, we invite K-8 students to explore an online resource that provides an abundance of online opportunities: LVJUSD Symbaloo. We will postpone other events, including IEP and 504 meetings, until further notice.
As we are learning, the situation may change on a daily basis. We will be sure to communicate updates with you. As always, please visit our website for news and resources.
