Eighth Grade Activities

  • It is time to plan for end of the year eighth grade activities.  The eighth grade packet includes information on promotion events and the requirements for students that must be met in order to participate in the activities.  If your student wants to participate in any activities, please print and complete the appropriate forms and return them to the East Avenue office.  You have the option of paying using the online webstore (please attach your receipt to the activities order form) or cash or attaching a check made payable to the appropriate payee. Please also print out the timeline and save this information to refer to in the coming months.

     The following is further information about promotion.  The forms referred to can be found in the packet.

    Promotion Gown Orders

    All students who participate in the East Avenue Middle School promotion ceremony must wear the school's designated promotion gown. The school has a number of previously worn gowns that may be borrowed for the ceremony. If you prefer, you may purchase a new gown for $23.00.  To purchase or borrow a gown, please check the appropriate height on the Promotion Activities Order Form.  If you already have a gown, please check the appropriate box on the form. 

    Students who purchased gowns will pick them up Thursday May 30th during lunch.  Students who will be borrowing gowns will receive them on Wednesady June 5th at promotion practice.

    This event is sponsored by The East Avenue Boosters Parent Club.  If your student wants to attend the 8th Grade Dance Party, please complete the Dance and T-shirt Order form in the packet and make your check payable to EAMS Boosters or pay through the webstore.

    Dress Code: LVJUSD dress code applies to this event.

    Eligibility: No grades of “F” as of May 30, 2019

    May not be on current suspension

    Must have paid all fines and returned all books and materials

     Food and drinks will be provided.  This dance is only for EAMS 8th grade students who have met the eligibility requirements.  Students must be picked up promptly at 9:30 PM.

    8:30 AM- 6:30 PM

    Cost: Bus (No Refunds) $30, Discovery Kingdom admission $50 (includes a meal voucher) (No Monetary refunds – an entrance ticket will be issued if a student cannot attend).

    If you have a Discovery Kingdom season pass, please check the appropriate box on the Promotion Activities Order Form

     Eligibility: No grades of “F” on the second trimester report card

    Maintain no “F” grades third trimester

    May not be on current suspension

    Must have paid all fines and returned all books and materials

     No Refunds – the school cannot refund your ticket or bus fee for any reason, including disciplinary exclusion.  The last day to pay for the trip is April 12, 2019.

    About the Trip: Students will be allowed a small backpack (which they will search at the gate), cell phone, sunscreen, a hat and they must follow dress code.  Students may not bring food, but may bring a sealed bottle of water,  

    Parents should plan to pick up their students at 6:30 PM.

    Please do not make any appointments for your child until after 12:15 PM.  Students must attend the rehearsal in order to participate in the ceremony.

     Guest seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.  Due to the limited number chairs, we suggest that each student limit his or her guests to four.  Saving seats is not allowed.  Beginning at 4:30 PM, the campus will open for early seating.  To ensure that all students’ names are heard clearly and parents’ views are not obstructed, airhorns and balloons are not permitted at the ceremony.  Students who are being promoted will need to report to the gym dressed in their gown by 5:15 p.m.  Students may wear a lei, but will not be allowed to carry anything with them (balloons, flowers, purses, etc.)

    Accessible Seating: Special accommodations will be made for those in wheelchairs and others with special mobility needs.  If you or someone in your family needs to be seated in the accessible section for the promotion ceremony, please complete the form and return it to the school office.  Reservations will not be accepted over the phone.  All completed forms must be returned to the office.  One additional person will be allowed to sit with the mobility-disabled guest.  Please click here for the promotion letter and accessible seating form


     Dress Code: Gowns must be worn during the ceremony.  Because the ceremony is held on the field, sensible shoes are recommended. We will be following the district dress code policy for all eighth grade students.  Student's dresses should not be strapless, backless or low cut.  Student's garments must conceal undergarments and midriffs.
