Message from CMS Athletic Director - Ms. Lagorio
The CMS Athletic Department is implementing a new system for students and families to submit information for athletic clearance requests. The athleticclearance.com website will enable parents and students to create accounts to apply for individual sports, upload documents, and answer questions. Account holders will receive a confirmation of their application submission. Applications will be reviewed and cleared through the portal. You will receive a follow-up email when the student has been cleared to participate.
The first sport we will use this for will be Boys Volleyball, followed by Wrestling. Students who have already submitted a sports physical will still need to create an account in the Athletic Clearance Portal, but will not need to submit an additional sports physical.

Welcome back! We are pleased that sports are back! At CMS, we offer several athletic opportunities for both boys and girls throughout the school year.
Please see the sports schedule below. Our fall sports programs, basketball and cross country will hold open gym and open fields the week of September 7th.
FALL - Cross Country and Boys Basketball
WINTER - Wrestling, Girls Basketball, and Boys Volleyball
SPRING - Girls Volleyball, Track, and Golf
During the current season, more information about open gyms, tryouts, practice schedules, game schedules, etc. will be announced during the Daily Announcements or Today's Announcements on the CMS website calendar.
REQUIREMENT ELIGIBILITY
Students may attend open gyms and open fields. However, students cannot try out or attend practice without having a current physical on file. Once a student turns in their paperwork, they will be cleared to participate. Forms can be turned into the office or emailed to the CMS Athletic Director, Andrea Lagorio, at alagorio@lvjusd.org. Note: Physical forms remain valid for one year from the date of the physician's signature.
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS
All students who wish to participate in our athletic programs must also meet the academic requirement by maintaining a 2.0 overall G.P.A.
PROGRAM FUNDING
Our sports programs are run solely on donations. Donations are used to help pay for equipment, uniforms, site-use fees, coaches stipends and referees.GO COUGARS!
Donations
-
Due to state budget cuts, there is no district funding for middle school sports. We can only offer extracurricular sport activities by raising enough money through parent donations to cover the cost of the individual sports program. Donations are tax deductible. Below are the suggested donation amounts that would allow us to cover the associated costs for each sport. These expenses may include coach’s stipends, referees and greens fees as well as equipment and uniforms. Donations are not refundable. All donations are voluntary and are in no way tied to your student’s ability to participate in a school program/activity.
Parent Support:
Each sporting team needs a parent coordinator to assist the coach with car pooling schedules, end-of-the-season party, and other clerical duties. Please consider volunteering, your participation is much appreciated! Basketball (B/G), volleyball (G), and wrestling (co-ed) parents must volunteer for a home game shift to collect money at the door. More information will be forthcoming.
