General Sports Information
Athletics is an integral part of the development of students in Middle School. It is the Mission of the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District Athletic Department to inspire each student to extraordinary achievement
every day. We provide a comprehensive athletic program that emphasizes the development of lifelong learning, values and skills through hard work, sportsmanship, ethical conduct, and fair play.
During each season of sport, the school's athletic department may ask for donations to contribute to the expenses of uniforms, equipment, and officials. While any donation is appreciated, the suggested donation amount is $100 per sport. The California Constitution’s free school guarantee prohibits charging students any fee, charge, or deposit for extracurricular, credit, or non-credit activities that are part of the District’s or school site’s educational program. Though many programs request parent/guardian donations, which are permissible, these donations are not mandatory. Donations may be made through the school’s webstore found on the school’s website or with cash or check at the school site. Donations are not refunded. All donations will be made to the General Athletics Account. Donations in any amount are very much appreciated and will be equitably distributed to athletic teams in compliance with Title IX.
All students participating in sports must have and maintain a 2.0 GPA and have completed the district physical form PRIOR to trying out for and participating in the sports. Please see the Message from Ms. Lagorio below regarding the new CMS Athletic Clearance Procedure.
Message from CMS Athletic Director - Ms. Lagorio
Student athletes will apply for the sport they are interested at www.athleticclearance.com. This portal allows students to apply for a sport and upload the required documents. Account holders will receive a confirmation of their application submission. Applications will be reviewed and cleared through the portal. You will receive a follow-up email when the student has been cleared to participate.
Welcome back! We are pleased that sports are back! At CMS, we offer several athletic opportunities for both boys and girls throughout the school year.
Please see the sports schedule below. Our fall sports programs, basketball and cross country will hold open gym and open fields the week of September 7th.
FALL - Cross Country and Boys Basketball
WINTER - Wrestling, Girls Basketball, and Boys Volleyball
SPRING - Girls Volleyball, Track, and Golf
During the current season, more information about open gyms, tryouts, practice schedules, game schedules, etc. will be announced during the Daily Announcements or Today's Announcements on the CMS website calendar.
Students may attend open gyms and open fields. However, students cannot try out or attend practice without having a current physical on file. Once a student turns in their paperwork, they will be cleared to participate. Forms can be turned into the office or emailed to the CMS Athletic Director, Andrea Lagorio, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Note: Physical forms remain valid for one year from the date of the physician's signature.
All students who wish to participate in our athletic programs must also meet the academic requirement by maintaining a 2.0 overall G.P.A.
Each sporting team needs a parent coordinator to assist the coach with car pooling schedules, end-of-the-season party, and other clerical duties. Please consider volunteering, your participation is much appreciated! Basketball (B/G), volleyball (G), and wrestling (co-ed) parents must volunteer for a home game shift to collect money at the door. More information will be forthcoming.
