2020-2021 LIBRARY SERVICES
Library Services During Distance Learning
During distance learning, the library will still be open to serve all students- but in new ways to keep us all healthy and happy. Starting Thursday, September 17, Ms. Pollard will offer curbside library checkout during set hours. When you receive notification that your books are ready, please park in the school loop in front of the office. Call the library at 925-606-4702 ext. 6538 and give Ms. Pollard your student’s name. She will bring the books right to your car.
Students may request up to 5 books at a time and can check out up to 3 books for one month. If students have overdue library materials, they will not be able to check out new books until they return all their books.
Placing Holds on Books from Home
Every student can login from home to browse our library’s catalog of books available for checking out. You can access our catalog here. You can search for books without logging in, but need to login to place a hold on a book so that Ms. Pollard can put the book aside for you. Logging in will be very similar to logging onto the chromebooks or your student google account. Your username is the student email minus @lvjusd.org (Example: kelly.pol) Your password will be your student ID number.
Please visit here for a short video on how to place a hold.
Other Options for Choosing Books
Students are encouraged to email Ms. Pollard at email@example.com if they would like book suggestions. Below is a link of book lists Ms. Pollard will continue to update. If you click on an image of a book, you can follow a link directly to that book in the library catalog and can place a hold on it.
Picking Up Your Book(s)
Books can be picked up during curbside library pick-up hours on Mondays 3-4 p.m. and Wednesdays 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. More pick up days may be added based on demand.
You can return books during curbside library checkout hours or you can leave them in the cart parked in front of the office. All books will be quarantined for 6 days (current CDC recommendation) before being checked in and put back on the shelves.
Please be patient for your items to be checked in or to become available. Popular titles may have a longer wait time due to quarantine/availability. Ms. Pollard recommends putting a hold on at least 3 books at a time.
