-
Dear Families,
Our mission and vision statements at Lawrence Elementary help guide everything we do. As our mission states, “Each student will graduate with the skills needed to contribute and thrive in a changing world.” The past few years definitely presented challenges, but the students, staff, and parents of Lawrence Elementary persevered and accomplished the unimaginable. Labradors united and exemplified the true meaning of a team.
As we embark on the 2022-2023 school year, we will focus on the gratitude we have for one another and our commitment to be united. In doing so, our staff, students, and families will continue to apply The Leader in Me framework and principles. The Leader in Me is based on Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits. Although children must be knowledgeable when they graduate, they must also be healthy, engaged, responsible, and caring people. As each child discovers and develops his or her unique gifts and talents, they are given opportunities to lead. As leaders, they become active, engaged partners in their own education and their self-confidence, responsibility, and initiative grows. Children quickly understand the benefits of different gifts and talents; they learn to listen to new ideas, work together to achieve results, and motivate one another to be the best.
We are excited to welcome the Lawrence Adult Transition Program (ATP) to our campus. ATP is designed for students ranging from 18 to 22 years of age with mild to severe disabilities. The program emphasizes student independence, choice making, individualized work experience, communication skills, money skills, etc. There will be endless opportunities for our elementary students and staff to collaborate with ATP.
It takes a team to accomplish something meaningful and significant for all. As we experience the 2022-2023 school year together, please remember I am just a phone call or email away. If I may be of assistance to you, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Warm regards,
Kristie Starkovich
