Mr. William McCarthy

I have been teaching for over 25 years. I began my career teaching in the San Francisco Archdiocese, two years at St. Gabriel and four years at St. Stephen where I taught mostly ELA and Social Studies. I then taught for 17 years in the Millbrae School District, five years teaching 4th grade at Green Hills Elementary and twelve years teaching ELA and Social Studies at Taylor Middle School where I retired from in 2017. After a couple of years of traveling, I missed being in the classroom so in 2018 I started subbing for Livermore Joint Unified School District. In 2019, I got a position teaching 6th grade Core once a week at Pleasanton Middle School and in 2020 I began teaching part time at Vineyard Alternative.

When I am not teaching I enjoy traveling, photography and coaching basketball. I have been coaching over 30 years, mostly at the middle school level, but I did coach for a combined 10 years at Archbiship Riordan High School and St. Ignatius College Prep in the very competitive West Catholic Athletic League. In 2019 and 2021/22 I  coached basketball at Joe Michell School. I recently took up golf at the insistence of a couple of good friends and like to play when I can.
