What is PBIS?

  • PBIS, or Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, is a framework for maximizing the selection and use of evidence-based prevention and intervention practices along a multi-tiered continuum that supports the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral competence of all students.  In other words, it is a system of school-wide expectations that is practiced by the entire school to help maintain a postive atmosphere that helps support the whole child.  In 2018, Junction Avanue K-8 School was selected as the first K-8 school (and middle school) to implement PBIS from the ground up.
