Mrs. Lourens graduated with a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from the University of Pretoria in South Africa. Upon graduation, she enjoyed teaching third grade in a multi-cultural classroom. After moving to the USA with her husband, she taught Art as a volunteer, completed a course in Special Education, and raised two children. She obtained a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction (with focus in K-3) and taught intervention for one year. For the last three years Mrs. Lourens has taught Kindergarten in Santa Rosa. She is excited to teach second grade this year and can’t wait to get to know her students!

When she isn’t teaching, she loves spending time with her husband and two teenage kids. She also enjoys art, traveling, hiking and gardening.
