Dr. Megan Faliero

As a new teacher to Livermore High School, I am excited to be a part of this wonderful staff. I would like to share my teaching philosophy: I believe that a teacher should inspire students using dynamic lessons in class. I believe that an effective classroom is apparent within minutes of entering a classroom as evidenced by the tone that has been set in the classroom; students should be engaged, attentive, and participating. I believe that a passion for teaching is essential and the teacher should strive for emotional responses in students. Teaching should engage students in practical thinking and problem-solving skills. A teacher should encourage students to take responsibility for their own learning, modeling the mental processes and study habits it takes to learn what they need to learn to become responsible and informed citizens. A variety of teaching strategies and knowledge of pedagogy are equally important in order to reach different kinds of students as they do not all learn in the same way. I believe that a teacher should be firm and practical in their classroom management yet strive to make connections to the students. I believe students should be held to high expectations and a teacher should push his/her students to be better than they think they can be.
