Employee Health Benefits

Full-time employees are required to enroll in a medical, dental, and vision plan through our third-party provider, California’s Valued Trust (CVT), unless the employee has qualifying coverage through Covered California (with subsidy), TRICARE, or Medi-Cal.

Open Enrollment is the annual period during which active employees may make changes to their health insurance coverage or provider for the upcoming school year. Open enrollment is held each year from  August 10 through September 10. Outside of Open Enrollment, employees may only add or make changes to coverage if they experience a qualifying life event, such as:

  • Loss of other insurance coverage
  • Marriage
  • Birth or adoption of a child

Supporting documentation (COBRA letter, marriage certificate, birth certificate, adoption paperwork) is required.

Employees have 30 days from the date of the qualifying event to submit an enrollment or change request.

Benefit enrollment is completed electronically through the MyCVT portal. To ensure coverage is effective on the first day of the following month, the completed enrollment application must be submitted on or before the 10th day of the month. Requests received after the 10th will be processed the following month.
