Journalism's main goal is to produce media to support the Mendenhall school community. These include the weekly Mustang Report broadcast and the annual online school newspaper, The Hoofprint. Students in journalism will become proficient in a variety of publication media platforms and have opportunities to create additional projects such as public service announcements and podcasts. Through these projects students will learn skills in journalistic writing, editing, layout and design and become media-literate citizens. In addition, students will learn how to manage deadlines and work with a team through the production process. At the end of the elective students will have a complete website portfolio showcasing their projects.
